Battery Balance warning light
1995 Country Coach. My battery balance light is going off and on. Testing from the bottom of the equalizer with the coach not running my voltage is 25v and 12.5v. While running at high idle, 13.65v and the 24 volt side jumps between 26.2 and 27.1 (balance light goes on and off as the voltage goes between 26.2 and 27.1). I have read several posts on this issue and I’m checking to see if this definitely means an equalizer problem? The chassis batteries were all replaced 3-2-21. Also, I’m 5 hours from home, is it safe to drive home with this problem. Thanks.

On my 92, I had this issue when i had one of my 4 Start batteries failing. Check your battery voltages independently if you can.

Mine was a bad Vanner Battery Monitor. Remove and install new one. A little over a $100 bucks.

Before spending money find out why the voltage is varying. The alternator output should be steady so start there to see if it is jumping around. Check cable connections, especially at the chassis ground.
All the equalizer does is distribute charging current so the alternator output (presumed 24V) is 1/2 of that value on the 12V side of the battery system.
The 13.65 value is 1/2 of the high 24V value so the equalizer is working as intended. My guess is it is a connection issue or the 50DN may be showing signs of an internal issue.

Thank you for the replies. John, as usual, you had it correct. I cleaned all the connections really well and the battery balance light went off and all the voltage numbers were correct and did not jump around. I appreciate your insight.
