Back in the saddle
Well I did it.. I found myself a reasonably priced Liberty, although it’s vintage it will fit the bill. It had the same owner for 17 years, is pretty original and although it’s in need of some TLC almost everything works including all the AC units.
I won’t bore the group by posting as I do upgrades but I do have a couple of technically cool upgrades that I will share when I do them.
The first order of business is new tires. I have always had Michelin but because they seem to be extremely proud of them ($$$) I am looking for feedback on cheap and cheerful tires if anyone has experience with some of the off brands.

For a less expensive and actually available.option to michelin, try Toyo. I have been happy with them. While you have the rims off, install centramatics all the way around.
I think mine where $550 including tires, install, taxes, etc (couple years ago) And they were available that day.

I’ll second the Toyo M170. I’ve had them on for 4 years, no issues. Price was a little less than the Mich, after the PC discount but they were un-obtainium in my 12R22.5 size. The Toyo were delivered in a couple of days from the warehouse.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The previous owner installed 315 80 22.5 Toyo on the front and changed to 9″ rims some years ago. I think that I will stay with this size based on the front axle weight that I have seen. There is a variety of brands of 315s on the remainder but on 8.25 rims which I’m not crazy about and will switch those back to 12r22.5s. It would appear by the stainless work around the drive axle that there has been some excitement of the tire variety over the years.
And if I could back it in the garage I would be much happier Pres.
