Awning Window Handle
Posted by Bill on December 21, 2024 at 11:23 amThe handle on my awning window has come apart. Looks like just a rolled pin holds things in place so either the pin needs replacing (re-spreading?) or the plastic is worn, torn, tearing. Anyone had to deal with this?

I could not find that part anywhere, window screens plastic spring found those, but not those rods, I replaced the little spring in a couple of window rods, But no luck on rods

I saw these files on one of the 3D print sites. I have no experience with these windows or this potential solution.

Thanks to you both. I will have to figure out how to get something 3D printed for visit some scrap yards!
Followup question Art (or anyone). The small piece that is actually attached to the window frame is in a piece of metal that can slightly slide from side to side. The piece is very loose and it can’t be screwed in by turning it. That metal plate is also VERY loose and is coming away from the frame a little which the other windows do not. Do you know how to access whatever the small tab is attached to and re-secure that part of the fixture? If so, I could disconnect an arm on an unused window and swap the 2.
Thanks again.

Bill,
The steps I have used to remove the window prop arm are as follows:
Open window to the point that the arm goes completely through the hole and is outside the coach.
Slide arm either forward or rearward on the extrusion that the window is installed in.
You may have to file the groove that the slider is in if the end is crimped.

Thanks, that’s what it looked like but there is some kind of a stop when i slide it side to side. We just had a Uhaul truck hit us in our parking lot
The lady acted surprised when I said she just hit a motorhome. 26 foot UHaul and she had never driven anything that big!
Crap!
Merry Christmas everyone!
