Aux Fuel Tank?
My 40 ft XL bus has the 100 gallon Auxiliary fuel tank in the rear side of the front bay, I know that tank has a 1 1/2 ID hose that connects the main tank and Aux tank at the lowest part of both tanks, reason I know this is the 1st 6 months we owned the bus it had a very slow drip in bypass hose that is at rear of 2nd bay that connects both tanks together. I drained the fuel from tanks at that time it had close to 200 gallons in them,I pumped it all in clean blue barrels and replaced hose with new 1 1/2 fuel line then pumped fuel back in. I’m thinking of adding a bypass shut off on that 1 1/2 fuel line and draining Aux tank into barrels then using fuel till blue barrels are empty. Reason is I don’t want to remove Aux tank for bus resale reasons and now days most of our trips are 500 to 600 mile trips so really don’t need that much fuel, Never pulled carpeted cover off Aux tank,Is it Steel? does it have any access covers? Does it have a Vent? In the winter I always keep fuel tanks full for condensation reasons so with only main fuel it will be lighter and less fuel to store. Any thoughts on that?? Is the main tank 150 gallons and Aux tank 100 total 250 gallons?
