Aux Air Compressure
I recently purchased 2001 XLII converted by Featherlite/Vantare.The bus is inexcellent condition but I have one small issue that someone might be able help with. The converter installed a Thomas air compressure to proovide air for the step slide and other related functions.
The compresor runs just fine if I bring a temporary 12 volt to the solenoid but will not work off the dash board internal switch, It is as if the pressure switch has failed and not providing a signal to start the comprssor.
My question is: does anyone hava a clue where to look for a sperate pressure on/off switch tied into the system. I have followed every air line that I can find and followed the wiring diagram but niether show a cut-in or cut-out switch.

I can’t speak for your individual bus, my vintage coach has a standard water well type pressure switch in the elec compartment below the driver alongside my norgren/level low configuration.It had a simple on/off switch for direct action (if pressure lower than setting) and I had a seperate switch ran up to my dash,so that i did not have to jump out of the bus to manually turn it on.

What Rodger said. A water well pressure switch is cheap, adjustable, and if it gives problems is available at almost any hardware store.

Paul… On my Vantare a ’98 H I have 2 switches… one in the electrical panel which has to be on for the one on the dash to work … On my coach it is on line 2 or B if yours is A & B … it’s actually the breaker switch. its easy to overlook some of the labels as there are so many !! I also have an indicator light that shows when its running to the left side of the compressor switch at the dash.

Good news! I found the air pressure switch and it was right in front of me the whole time.
My confusion was Vantrare shows the pressure switch in the floor slide wiring diagram. They use the same color codes (Blue and Black) for the pressure switch and the wires going to the latching relay for the floor slide.
Adding to my confusion was a lable mounted right in front of the pressure switch stating that the air slide is to be set at 45 PSI.
Third point of confusion was I have never seen a pressure switch like the one installed on my coach. It is a sealed unit with a bleed line that runs down through the floor. When I say sealed, I mean electricaly sealed. There is a threaded plug that can be removed to adjust cut out pressure.
Adding everything up, I assumed what I now know to be the pressure switch was a safety device designed to retract the floor slide if it encounter an object such as a human.
The pressure switch itself has failed so it is time to replace.
