Aux air compressor breaker flipping
Recently the breaker for the aux air is flipping off. Turn it on, and it flips off with a couple seconds.
Air compressor was running fine, it’s only a couple three years old.
Trying to figure out where to start trouble shooting it.

Charles, it could be a lazy breaker in the electric panel.
If you want to rule it out pay attention to the current draw shown on the amp gauge when the aux compressor starts. I can’t remember what mine draws for start and run current, maybe someone can jump in and provide that number of amps. If the current draw is too much the breaker is doing what it is supposed to, if not chances are good the breaker is failing in which case if you have an unused breaker on your panel of the correct rating you can swap it for the existing one.
If it is not the breaker it could be the compressor despite its age.

It seems to draw about 20 -21 amps.
I’ve been out in the wild working for the past month, wife mentioned it to me. I got back last night for a long weekend and tried it. Comp didnt even seem to kick on, just flipped the breaker. Wasn’t thinking to watch the draw on it when I tried it. Just turned it on and it ran fine.
I’ll keep an eye on it for now.

The California Air aux compressor that I installed has a start capacitor. If yours has one? maybe it’s failed?
To see if it’s a bad breaker, swap with an equal rated one.

I’m starting to think my wife is part of the “problem”. I was gone for a month, air compressor starting “acting” up. I got back and it ran fine. I left and advised her to turn it off when she left. She did. I get back and it’s working like it’s supposed to.
I need to hook her up to a multimeter and see what it says.
This isn’t the first time the coach has rebelled against her. Washing machine does it all the time. She uses it and it complains. I’m alone with the old girl (coach, not my wife) and it runs fine?
Maybe I’ll bring it to Jeff and see what he says, I have a month off and it’s been a couple months since I’ve run the coach down the road. That and my bank account is almost recovered since my last stop in east Tennessee 🙂

She left me to go out west for the fire season. Will need to wait for a while to do my “tests”.
But it’s still working fine, so based on my scientific analysis, I’m sticking with the coach doesn’t like her 🙂

Charles, that is hard to imagine. I’ve seen you both and if I had to make a choice…..

That’s what mine was doing. Get under it and check for bare spots on the wire, mine would draw 20 amps just before throwing the breaker. The cause of mine was a chipmunk.
