Automatic Chassis light check
Posted by Chris on April 28, 2019 at 10:27 pmI have searched and cannot find the procedure for turning on the light sequence to check all the turn signals etc as part of the pre-trip check. Getting ready for a solo trip and this would make my pre-trip a lot less painful. Thanks

Not available until mulitplex coaches. Yours is a bit too old.

Thanks Mark but mine actually is multiplex as I learned when wanting to deactivate the brake lights every time the Jake kicks in.

Chris,

EXTERIOR LIGHTING VERIFICATION
Exterior Lighting Test Mode
This useful function allows quick verification of
the vehicle exterior lights.
Activating the test mode:
When the vehicle is stationary (parking brake
applied), pull up the multi-function lever 3 times
within 3 seconds to activate the test mode. This
test can be done when the engine is not running
providing that the battery charge is sufficient
(above 24.4 volts).
The telltale panel alarm emits a sound each
second to remind that the test mode is in
progress.
Stopping the test mode:
To stop the test mode, pull up the multi-function
lever once or turn the ignition OFF or remove
the parking brake. -
Multi-function lever = turn signal. I had to look that one up. For those in the XLII crowd it is page 89 of PA1552. I learned something new today. Now I have to go see if I can make it work.
Note that the manual further states:
The test mode is useful to check the functioning of the multiplex outputs and the exterior lights. It doesn’t test functionality of the commands related to exterior lighting. For a complete testing, the directional signal commands, the headlights commands and the brake pedal have to be checked before. Once these commands are tested, activate the test mode to check the exterior lighting.
The manual gives the steps to test the commands.

Thanks Andre’. Loc I had to look it up too. Glad I’m not the only one that wasn’t sure. Tomorrow I’ll give it a try before my trip.

That is interesting…I was told that multiplex did not start until the late 2007 chassis year. My 2006 chassis Legendary was a half breed as the slide controls were multiplex, but everything else was not. Does yours have the modules in front and back instead of the old style relays?
