AutoAwn awning head protection!
All,
I KNOW I’m supposed to duck when I leave the trailer with the AutoAwn awning deployed, but I’ve forgotten many times to duck as I turn right…
A simple and very cheap solution has now been utilized to keep my head crowning to a minimum: pool noodles.
At $1 each from Ace Hardware, cut to length and slit up the middle for easy application. They come in multiple colors (flourescent for better visibility!), and if you do still hit the arm, it doesn’t hurt nearly as much. Easy on, easy off!
PS, can’t seem to find a way to rotate photo (which is correct orientation on computer!)…

Great idea Mike. The fact you are tall creates the need, but regardless of our heights there are probably very few of us that has not turned around and slammed our heads into the awning arm or the slide.

While I do not have the awning arms on my
awning, I have cracked my balding pate on my slides several time, as well as
backing into the corner of the slide, especially when working around the coach. So, thanks to Mike and his idea and having
some pool noodles by the pool, I cut one and split it and placed it on the
corners of the slides.While not near as old as Jon, I still get
forgetful, so took a split piece about 3 inches long and placed it over the
steering wheel to remind me to take them off before retracting the slides. (OK, I will admit that was Helen’s idea)That is what I love about this site, sharing

How true………..we all have heard Nancy say how bad she wants slides, but Tom still doesn’t hear her.

Note to self. Be sure to hook up power before extending rear slide to prevent backing into slide while pulling power cable. Or, install pool noodle on slide BEFORE hooking up power.

Thanks Thomas. I tried to rotate the photo, but to no avail. Maybe I took the photo while waiting to wake up, or at my age, I just took a spontaneous nap.

Geprge, you don’t have to prompt Tom with reasons he can rattle off trying to convince Nancy she doesn’t want slides. He has them all. I think they are listed in a book that he has memorized.
Poor Nancy.
