Auto Fill Not Working Properly
Posted by steve on May 26, 2018 at 8:33 amReplaced plastic tubing from transducers to sensor tube at tanks and recalibrated for correct levels inside but now to add water I have to hold autofill button in up position. Rechecked all electrical connectors, nothing changed. Any suggestions ?

Being a holiday weekend may possible have reduced the “computer time” for some. Hopefully, sometime this week, more folks will start checking the forum.
I would like to help but, I don’t even know how mine works…yet, so I can’t even speculate on a different conversion. Keeping the issue fresh and in front of folks for a while may be necessary. Good Luck!

Tks Tim. You`re prob correct on timing. At least I can still fill manually!

I suspect part of the reason may also be that owners of other conversions may not have knowledge of how your conversion was set up and their answers may be more confusing than helpful.
We all have to remember that what may apply to our conversion, or even our conversion year may have no relationship to other conversions or years.

Steve,
Your best bet is to contact Ben Cummins now at USA Luxury Coach, Ben is the Parliament go to guy and may have built yours.

Tks Tom. Called him many times on other issues, but know he`s really busy. Was just thinking someone might of encountered this. will call Ben though. Thanks All. Will report find and hope it helps someone down the road.

One thing that would help in the future is to specify the device by its model number and manufacturer.
While our conversions are all different they also often use the same devices used by other converters. The key is if the converter has done something proprietary that makes the device unique as far as the application. A good example is Liberty has their own generator auto-start device and while the Liberty suspension is mostly identical to the Prevost level low, Liberty has added a feature for auto-leveling and modified the stock Prevost level low.
I am sure other converters have done a lot of systems in non-standard ways also, but by identifying the system device it does help steer the conversation so there may not be total silence.
Another thing I do almost all the time is go to a manufacturer’s web site and pull up their operator’s, service or installation manuals to get an understanding of what might be happening.

Jon, these beast are a bit strange…
My Headhunter control panel in the wet bay has a switch labeled “Pump Control”. Silly me though it would control the Headhunter water pump…. NO !!!
Three positions, “Auto” – “Hold” – “Manual” control the auto fill solenoid valve.
I need to update my secret decoder ring and add a new set of terminology. I can’t wait to break the code on other things…

Les,
That panel looks like one on my coach. But I will not presume Liberty and Country Coach use them in an identical fashion.
When mine is in the “auto” mode and city water is connected to my coach and the valves are open the system will cause water flow into my water tank when the level is down to 20%. The water fill will stop when the level reaches 80%.
It will not auto-fill or auto-stop until and unless it reaches those levels which is apparently why there is a manual mode available.
Yours may be the same………or not.

“That panel looks like one on my coach. But I will not presume Liberty and Country Coach use them in an identical fashion.”
I agree with the above statement and mine works just as Jon described. However, I did not like the 80%/20% setting like they must be set up from the factory…just preference I guess.
On the back of that panel there is a slide that you can change the settings. I bumped the cut out up to 100% and raised the cut in to 90%. That way when I leave somewhere I know its full. On the cut in side, I can switch from “hold” to auto any time and the tank will fill (assuming its less than 90% full).
Before anyone thinks this is stupid, It works for my application because I do not leave the city water supply on all the time. I have messed with a couple different hose ends but could never find one that wouldn’t eventually drip depending on the water pressure from the city. I don’t want a constant drip of water in my bay. I can be somewhere for about 4-5 days before I need water which a lot of times is more than I stay in any one place anyway. I just turn on the city water and flip the switch to “auto” right before I leave. I actually prefer to fill on the curb side when I can b/c I just open the valve and let it fill until I see water running out on the ground.
I may not out pull you on the mountains but I will always be full of water when you see me!

Pics of headhunter controls. The water sensor probe screws into top of fresh water tank. This appears to be the problem since it reads 0 ohms across probes. Ben C. is checking for replacement.

That is a little different set up from what Liberty uses. We have the fresh water fill/auto/hold on the control panel where I see yours is just a power on/off. Most likely the same concept just wired with different switch locations.
Im sure they can get yall fixed up.

The headhunter system I have had on 2 Liberty’s uses a tube going from the “black box” down to the bottom of the tank. It has a very tiny compressor that cycles as needed to blow the water out of the tube and when the compressor shuts off the head pressure in the tube is measured and translated to an LED light display and it is that display of tank volume in 10% intervals that determines when to fill and when to shut off water supply to the tank.
Completely different than what I see in the photo above.

Steve, I sent to your email 2 Headhunter Tank Sentry manuals in pdf form that may be of help.
