  • Atwood WH Drain Plug

Posted by Tim on March 4, 2017 at 2:34 pm

Is there a “drain plug” for the 10.5 Atwood Water Heaters to drain them for annual maintenance? My manual states there is a drain plug, but I can’t seem to locate it. I’ve been draining my two WH’s thru the two relief valves to clean them out.

    Tim & Cindy

our atwoods drain via a soilnoid valve. When i hit tank drain button, 12v power open the solinoid. Atwood heaters have a line on the lower left side of the front panel. That line is the drain. Our converter has that line switched from a manuel gate valve to a direct line to the solinoid. Your system may be similar.

Please note, if i hit the tank drain, the heaters and fresh water tank start draining. Opening the pressure relief ensures you’ll be able to reestablish the air gap you need in your heater tank.

    Thanks Chip,

Found both drain valves on the Atwoods which are drained thru two different drain cocks below both pressure relief valves.
