Tom What part of the country are you at? If you are in Michigan still there is an Asko dealer in Auburn Hills just north of Detroit they carry all Asko parts include a complete assemblies. I bought the dryer motor from them when I had my XL2 Marathon. I will look in my records to see if I can find their phone number.

We had an Asko W/D when we moved into the house. For five years it was always something on those applinces that barely made it past the warranty, and which turned me into an appliance repairman.

12 years ago we bought a new set of Kenmore W/D and I haven’t touched them.

I asked the local used appliance store if they wanted to buy the two I was replacing. They were always able to get me parts. They said no. I asked if they wanted them for free. They said no. Lesson learned. I junked them and bought a used Kenmore for my garage washing machine. Still running even though I abuse it.

Save your money. Asko ranks right up there with the Splendide combo for the lousiest appliances we have ever owned. Buy new ones.

If Tom’s coach is like mine, he’ll have to stay with Asko.

Last year, my dryer’s drum stopped turning. I thought, like Tom, that I could replace the drum. Not so. It was the motor. After pricing a new motor, it was better getting a new Asko dryer.

Like Jon, I tried pricing Whirlpool, Kenmore, etc. However, the dimensions of those units were larger than the opening for my unit. It would have been extremely expensive to modify the entire W/D cabinet to buy a new Whirlpool or Kenmore W/D. You cannot just buy the dryer and use your Asko washer. Your Asko washer plugs into the dryer and, it’s a Eurpopean type of plug.

Bottom line, I took out my old dryer, purhcased a new dryer and had it delivered to Trawick, and paid two hours of labor for them to help me put the new dryer in my coach.

    Jon,

We have the Splendide 2100XC combo. There is room for a stacked apartment set but Carolyn likes the area above the washer for other stuff.

Is there a good combo unit out there? And if a stacked set, what is the pick of the litter, please Sir?

    Rudy,

Both the Asko and the Splendide were so bad I earned a certificate for appliance repair mechanic. When the Asko worked it did a decent job, but the key is guessing when it would work.

The Splendide was not only unreliable, when it did work it did a really bad job of drying and if I am not mistaken the reason for rules prohibiting the hanging of clothes on the awning arms at the fancy RV parks is due to the number of folks trying to get the laundry from their Splendide dry. For us there was no alternate unfortunately except for a roll of quarters for the campground laundry machines.

Our last coach had Kenmore stackables and they worked very well but were small. We currently have Bosch, also small, but they have done a good job and are reliable.

    Jon,

I looked at the Bosch website. No combo washer/dryer.

The dryers are ventless condensation dryers. Other brands of that type get very low reviews and are reported to take forever to dry. How is drying in your Bosch?

I disagree, the Asko’s have worked fine until the drum roller broke off a piece, still works, but noisy. Ms Truk says the Asko is the best washer/dryer in any of the buses we’ve had.

Tim – Mine are not stacked and each is stand alone. Hish has a motor in stock for sale.

Parts update – Asko is now owned by Sub Zero, they have all parts available through a parts source, ordered and on the way. The Sub Zero folks were great.

A new to Nancy and Tom coach with slides would likely have had a more reliable W/D set. Just sayin’.

    Rudy,

The only combo we had was the Splendide in our first coach and it was enough to make a combo W/D a show stopper.

    Our Bosch is a stackable.

Our Asko was a great set of W/D, but the key was lack of reliability. As soon as the warranty ran out it was one repair after another.

I’m with Tom and Nancy, we love our Asko. I just replaced the dryer rollers, ordered from Marathon and were not overpriced. Runs like a champ and no more thump thump thump.

Tom or Bill, call me with any tips on the roller replacement adventure.

Anyone with a motor or capacitor problem, Hish is your guy, he’s done it.

which is a combo washer ad dryer. Unlike many others combos, ours is vented and I would not want anything but a vented machine because, unlike, the condensate dryer units, the vented unit is faster an it dries better.

Having said that, a combo is by far not as good as separate units. You can also not stuff everything into the washer at once. You have to wash and dry smaller loads.

The one thing that irks us about our Splendide is that it does not tell you how long the dry cycle will be running.

Sometimes, we have had clothing come out baly wrinkled because they were dried for too long.

Now, we usually select a shorter drying cycle and if something is still damp, we hang it up in the shower for which we have a great multiarm and foldable stand.

Anyways, if I could have chosen, I would have a stacked washer and dryer

    Cheers,

    Ronald
