AquaHot replacement (complete)
Our 2003 XLII AquaHot is leaking water badly and is in need of replacement. The origional AH lasted 6 years. I replaced it with a refurb. AH and now 8 yrs later is leaking water badly from the unaccessable right side. Opened up the AH and the left side is clean & dry. So the water leak is in the unaccessable side. Don’t really want another AH.
Looking into a direct replacement to the AH with the International Thermal Research (ITR) Oasis NE. ITR is in direct competition to AH. The Oasis NE has the same footprint (size) of an AH.
Looking for someone that has any experiance with ITR Oasis NE hydronic heating system.

I had an Oasis in my last Foretravel, worked well and I think a little less complicated than an AH. Someone pulled the swap you are talking about in their Foretravel. They had a post on the Foreforum forum. I sure you could find more information there.

If anybody is interested in a swap, I have a new, never installed, Oasis CH50M unit for sale. Comes with the main diesel burner unit with 2 electric heating elements, the Distribution module, electronic control module, manuals, harness etc.

if you have a similar Aquahot they can be repaired if it’s not the tank
The top photo is the old copper being taken off, the bottom photo is after the new 160 feet of copper has been replaced set in a heat transferring mastic -
You know never have used my AquaHot on diesel but always use electric side. Wonder where that element is?

The electric element on your heater is located to the right of the burner down at the bottom of the tank behind the little cover.
It is a 1650 watt, 5000 btu, 120 vac element.

On the unit shown above, the element is at about five o’clock in relation to the combustion chamber just below the wire that is visible in the picture.

Thanks Rudy, good speaking with you. I did call John C. and we spoke about the water leak repair. He is about a month out on service dates, which works for us. And John said that he could add a 2nd 120VAC heating element (I have a unused 30-amp CB available). Have always wanted a 2nd heating element.
Appreciate you chiming-in Rudy, and next time we travel thru the Houston area, will give you a call!

We had the Aqua Hot system on our previous coach that had the ‘two element’ set-up. It worked great.
Ours could heat the coach electrically if the outside temp wasn’t too cold (40’s?). Otherwise, it was nice to heat the hot water without turning on the diesel.

Wanted to give everyone an update on our AH replacement. I did travel to just north of Denver, CO & had John Carrillo replace our (water) leaking AH. John was able to get his hands on an model 600D which has twin 2,000 watt (120VAC) heating elements.
In prep for the new twin electric element AH, I needed to run an electric cable from my engine compartment to the 4th bay on the curb side where my AH was located. Parliament coach had placed an extra 30 amp circuit that was wired to the engine bay, but not in use. I ordered 25′ of Pacer Electric 10/3 round boat cable, 25′ of Southwire Ultratite-Type NM liquid tight flexible conduit, 2 watertight junction boxes & some screw on NM liquid tight connectors. After running the wiring from the engine compartment to the 4 C/S bay, I had 3.5 ft of cable leftover – just enought to made the final electrical connection at the AH model 600D.
We arrived in Longmont, CO at a beautiful state park named St. Vrain. All of their FHU sites have 50-amp electic at this SP & can easily accomidate a 45′ coach. John was all booked for about a month out, so that gave us plenty of time to make reservations for the state park and do some touring prior to our service appt date.
John is a man of his words. John obtained the twin heating element AH model 600D. John had to convert the new style wiring with the 600D to my old style AH control wiring, but for John that was no problem at all. John arrived about 8:30am and was completely finished by 4 pm the same day. John put down a blue tarp on the ground and made sure none of the antifreeze spilled on the ground. Very professional work. When working and his phone rings, John lets it go to voice mail. He did not even stop to take a lunch break.
Bottom line, I have always wanted a twin electric element AH and now I have it installed. The AH heating elements are controlled by 2 separate circuit breakers and during the warmer months, I will need just 1 heating element most of the time. But come colder winter weather, I will turn on the 2nd circuit breaker controlling the 2nd 2,000 watt element and our 45′ coach will stay nice and toasty warm. We will be able to take a shower and heat the coach at the same time using both 2,000 watt heating elements.
I have 4-15,000 BTU roof heat pumps/A/C’s, but for quietness, you just can not beat the soft warm heat that is emmited from the floor registers heated by the AH.
