Aqua Hot no spark no frire
My Aqua Hot is driving me to drink. It has become very tempermental of late. Would not always light off on the 1st try so I changed te nozzle, and both fuel filters. Before I left on this trip, I tested it every day and it worked. Today it will not light off. Pulled the burner head and when I hit the on switch the blower motor runs, then I hear a click and the fuel sprays from the nozzle, but no spark at the electrodes. Any quick tests or quick fixes for this issue? I tried a spare coil I have, still no spark. Checked all the fuzes, they are all good. I am guessing I need to trace a couple of wires to see if power is getting to the coil. Anyone have step by step instructions on how to trouble shoot a “no spark” condition.
I will be reading the manual tonight, but I am hoping for some one with “previous knowwledge” of this problem to make things a little easier on me. Any help would be graetly appreciated.

Nevermind that stuff Andre get back to the digging ! seriously kiddo I know nothing helpful other than swearing at it and a good kick but that probably wont help. Where are you two going now ??

Assuming the gap at the electrodes wasn’t changed the coil would have been #1 on my list. If that has been ruled out as the cause my next guess would be the control box.

Put voltage to the coil direct and see if you get spark. Assuming the photo cell is clean, may be the brain box as Jon mentioned. Also, check the thermal fuses on top under the cover, they should be normally closed.

I can’t remember the exact sequence, but I don’t think the photocell comes into play until after ignition. I think it needs to see flame after the ignition, and if not it shuts down fuel flow. Andre is getting fuel but no spark.

I was able to test the coil and it works. I used jumper wires to the “C” connector and applied 12V and a ground and the coil produced a really good spark. Connected the control box back up and no spark. Just ordered a rebulit control box from

Thanks for all the replies. Turned out the coil was easy to check.

My Aqua Hot is working great now. It was a control box issue. The rebuilt control box fixed the problem. During testing I noticed I had a slow drip from the radiator cap. So I just replaced that and all seems to be good now.
