    My experience in northern Florida for many winters, has shown that the Aquahot 1500 watt electric heater will keep the coach warm down to about 50 degrees. It is surprising how much heat the refrigerator expels.

    Having had both the basic Webasto and now an Aquahot, I appreciate the flexibility of the Aquahot. In either case, Webasto recommends the nozzles be changed yearly, regardless of how little use.

    BTW, I have always wondered what the inside of the Aquahot heating coils looked like. I appreciate the picture.

    We have the Aqua-Hot system in our current coach and I see from researching the several Prevost converters that some use the Wabasto system and some use the Aqua-Hot.

    Since I’ve never had a Wabasto, I can only comment on the Aqua-Hot. I love it!

    Ours is 6.5 yrs. old and I was having it serviced yearly until a couple of years ago I saw the nozzle that the tech removed and I thought it was a new one. So, I switched to every two years on maintenance and it has been just fine. I just had it serviced in June (2 yr. mark) and the tech said my system looked fine. It runs smooth and smoke free.

    Our Aqua-Hot has the two stage electric elements and let me tell you, when I have both on, our water is scaldling hot! In fact, I can heat the inside of the coach with the two stage electric if it’s not too cold out (above 45 degrees), otherwise, it’s best to use the diesel burner. We also have roof air/heat pumps if needed.

    We also have the engine heating option with the Aqua-Hot along with an electric block heater. Both seem to work well.

    Our coach has never been in cold weather storage so no need for us to winterize.

    Every converter seems to have their own way of doing things. I have only had Liberty coaches but what you describe regarding your Aqua Hot would apply to my coach.

    Your Aqua Hot uses a Webasto as its diesel heat source. I don’t know the BTU.

    I do know I have an 80,000 BTU Webasto and it uses a circulating pump to move engine coolant to the various heat exchangers as well as the engine, so I can heat the house, my hot water, and my engine. My 22 gallon HW tank can also be heated by an electric element. The end result is we both get the same only my Webasto circulates engine coolant and your system circulates its own fluid.

    I can isolate any part of the system like you and with multiple thermostats I can regulate the temperatures through the house. I think the AquaHot does it as a package with internal pumps and my Webasto does it with an external pump. Bottom line, they both work.

    My AquaHot is 21 years old installed in 92. Not a lot of use over the years. Had a fuel leak last year and took it in and they installed new fuel pump and R&R’ed while they had it apart. It used to smoke quite a bit on start up, but doesn’t do that now. Still works but use electric for hot water. Just turn it on to make sure it works every now and again. Mine is also tied into engine but have never turned valves on to circulate. Ironhorse Rv in San Antonio has a guy there that’s about all he works on. They also replaced combustion chamber and nozzels plus fuel pump.Total cost $1200
