  • Aqua hot exhaust

Two more questions about aqua hot. I will ask them seperately.

It is time for some work on the exhaust of my aqua hot. My bus was 12-13 years old when I bought it and the it had been scraped on the belly a time or two. I could tell because the mid-door step was scraped on the bottom and the exhaust for the aqua hot was “squeezed” ever so slightly in two places.

I high centered it myself trying to get out of a church parking lot in California in 2010. No damage to the stainless just scraping the step and aqua hot exhaust. I avoided any scraping on my last tight spot by following instructions on THIS thread.

Although the exhaust does not seem to be restricted I would like to have it repaired. I noticed this week that there is some exhaust escaping right at the elbow where it is attached to the aqua hot. I definitely want that repaired.

I have no way to get the bus up in the air and I have no access to a pit locally. Where should I take this for diagnosis or repair? I am in Waynesville, Ohio until the 27th of December. Waynesville is between Dayton and Cincinnati.

Can a regular good ol’ boy exhaust guy fix this if I can get it up in the air?

    A truck shop?

    Prevost?

Is this going to be a huge job?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unless the exhaust is routed into the middle you can always raise it up using the level low. Assuming nobody actually has to get completely beneath the coach just use heavy blocking under the body support points and a mechanic should be able to reach what is necessary to fix the flattened exhaust. If the exhaust is routed to the center of the coach, and then out the rear getting it lifted or over a pit may be the way to go.

Thanks, Jon. I should have explained that. The aqua hot is in the 2nd bay closer to the passenger side but not real close. The exhaust goes diagonal toward the back exiting just in front of the drive axle on the driver’s side.

Sounds like the bus belly has to be accessed. People can get under it if you raise it, but NEVER without supporting the chassis.
