Anyone towing a 2008 Chevy HHR?
Would like to tow our HHR behind the coach.
Anyone else towing an HHR? I’ve been told conflicting information about towing an HHR and want to hear from someone doing it.

Hi Dick ,Yup I have been towing my HHR since new but its a 5spd with the 260 horse engine. I hear that you can tow the automatics flat also but if you need it I will go out and check the owners manual for ya.

OK Dick this is right from the manual . to dinghy tow the vehicle from the front with all four wheels on the ground do the following
1 set the parking brake
2 turn the ignition key to ACC/ACCESSORY to unlock the steering wheel
3 shift your transmission to NEUTRAL(N).
4 Release the parking brake
to prevent the batteryfrom draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove the following fuse from the floorconsole fuse block. #8 ignition switch,Passkey . Remember to reinstall the fuse once you have reached your destination.Notice If you exceed 65mph while towing your vehicle it could be damaged. never exceed 65mph while towing your vehicle.
notice Towing your vehicle from the rear could damage it. Also repairs would not be covered by the warranty. Never have your vehicle towed from the rear.OK thats it exactly as GM wrote it . As far as removing the fuse (its in the passenger side of the forward console, just pull the forward most peice right out and the fuse is right there. I installed a switch with an inline fuse built into it under the drivers side of the dash and that way I dont have to be going through all that bending over stuff. I ran the two leads to the fuse box and pligged them in where the fuse should be. Just remember to turn the switch back on when you are done towing it.

Automatic–bought it for that reason new 79,000 miles . prob 30,000 towed . still tickin!! —you can buy a plug in fuse replacment that allows yoy to put a toggle switch on #8 so you don’t have to pull fuse each time.. Have 4 friends that tow HHr’s also ,all automatics.. I see Red had already covered the fuse mod. also had diadoedes (sp) put in taillights so it was plug and go on lights. Mine is Orange ?all my friends are Black …Bob
