We bought our Featherlite from Legacy Coach and they are super close to where we live. So when we are out in their area we pop in and see some of their inventory. Incidentially, this Marathon was there the last time we went out there and I did go in the bus. I did not inspect it as if I was buying it, but I did go in.

The bus is nice on the inside. I love this layout from Marathon. It’s very social. I like the way the TV is on a slant. It had the ipad control. Which was great. It’s been updated with TVs etc.

I can tell you that James and Brandon would have no problem with you paying for a 3rd party inspection. I recently experienced a dealer that wouldn’t allow that.

I didn’t see any evidence that looked like it had been struck by lightening. ie no flickering of lights, nothing strange or paranormal. It was a pretty cool coach.

Of course Brandon, the owner, has a great reputation in the biz and he has brought on James who has quickly earned one as well.

They will be easy to work with if you decide to come to God’s Country for the visit!

The Motor Coach Store would not allow a 3rd party inspection.

I really didn’t want to list the dealer because they are advertisers to this site. Tom and Jon are going to suspend my forum rights. 🙁

There is no reason to feel concerned about mentioning anything about an advertiser as long as it is accurate and constructive.

When you said the Motorcoach Store would not allow a 3rd party inspection that was a statement of fact.

The purpose for our forum is the exchange of ideas and information. What we will not tolerate are unjustified attacks. As an example if someone would say “XXX is a crooked dealer” you could pretty much count on the fact we are going to delete that post, and depending on circumstances maybe that member. But if someone would say “XXX is a crooked dealer because they agreed to repair a bus I was buying, but all they did was take my money and not make the repair”, the post will stand, but you can be assured we will contact the dealer, provide access to the forum and ask for their response. We will allow the posts to stand assuming they are not profane or personal attacks but are fact based. Our members can then form their own opinions based on the information provided.

No PC member should be concerned about what they post unless it is a personal attack, a criticism of someone or a company without merit or explaination, is a hot button topic like politics, religion, gun control, etc.

Why would TMS not allow a third party inspection? To me that just sounds like bad business. Why wouldn’t someone selling something so expensive want a customer to feel good about what they are buying? Makes no sense to me if you are seriously trying to sell a good product and keep a good name.

But on the flip side, he seems to sell an awefull lot of coaches and sells most pretty quickly.

Before being critical of TMS for the policy it should be noted that some other dealers have the same policy.

From a buyer’s perspective there is a benefit to having a coach inspected prior to a sale or prior to making an offer. But trying to look at the issue from the dealer’s perspective I am not so sure I want to have a $500,000 coach off my premises and out of my control, especially if it involves someone unknown to me opening panels or in some manner putting it at risk.
