Take some pics of the license plate and post it here so everyone will know which coach to NEVER buy if it comes on the market…!!

For you old timers, is that Peter’s bus from WA? If it is, the engineering was done and there is absolutely no worry, he knows his stuff…

I’m worried. Looks like he would have engineered some taillights in that you could see from behind.

That looks great if it was a H-45 you could drive it in bay and close the door , HaHa

I wonder if they added 1500 lbs of ballast over the steer axle to restore the weight distribution.

There are some concerns with that, such as Ken’s observation about the tail lights. But unlike the typical motorcycle lift this carrier probably is less damaging to the frame or engine cradle. The typical motorcycle lift is essentially a long lever added to the engine cradle and it damages welds with up and down forces as the coach travels over bumps and expansion joints. The Prevost engine cradle does real well with straight line loads such as pulling toads or trailers as long as the tongue weight is light.
As I see the Smart Car carrier it looks like the upper connecting points are attached to the coach frame pulling rearward and downward at that location. The lower attach points appear to put some down forces on the lower coach structure, but also it appears it puts some forces fore and aft, the type of forces the rear structure can handle.
If I were to guess the carrier is probably OK, but the comment about weight distribution is probably on the money.

Yep, you said you were putting a lift on yours.
This guy is illegal when he hits the road. Any object exceeding 3 feet from the back of a vehicle not being part of the vehicle has to be designated with red flaggs to alert drivers behind you. In this guys case he is also obstructing view of his tail lights which means he should have tail lights on the back of his lift. He just hasn’t found the right cop in a bad mood to right him up.

Bernie,
In CA can we call that an OD load and make him get escorts?:)
-
He wouldn’t get 50 miles into CA.
I like the Gallagher method, remember him?
When you see somebody doing something stupid you shoot him with a dart that has a stupid flag on it and if anybody has 5 flags, he can’t drive anymore.Later

On the average trip we would quickly realize that no matter how big our coaches are, they will not be big enough to carry all the darts we will need.
They really are out to get us.
