Not enough Prevosts in the NASCAR Cup garage at the ChucagoLand track last weekend. An awful lotta plastic/S&S stuff. I suspect the NASCAR Prevosts run together so they don’t have to stop every 100 Miles when a SOB breaks down.

    Hi Dick,

I always heard that entertainers buy Prevost and NASCAR buys Newell. Generalities for sure but they generally come from some point of truth. But plastic coaches wow, gate sales must be down?

I remember there was a bus I was looking at that was owned by a guy from NASCAR. I mentioned the bus is likely well maintained because of that and I thought Jon was going to swallow his flip phone!

Jon and I looked at bus in Knoxville with 12 year old tires and a bra that the seller wouldn’t let him look under. Jon didn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling with that either! Can you imagine?

Just like the Indy car race at Road America a few weeks ago, Newell was well represented at ChicagoLand.

I think more NASCAR drivers and team owners drove a Prevosts when Featherlite trailers owned Featherlite/Vantare. FL CEO Conrad Clements had a lease deal that couldn’t be beat. I’ve seen ex-Dale Jarrett and ex-Jeff Gordon Prevosts for sale at Jamie’s Tampa show. There isn’t as much excess cash floating around NASCAR today as in past years, which is probably why there are fewer Prevosts in the restricted coach lots.

Tom, there is a race at Daytona this Saturday (7th) which probably ‘splains it.

    “Sunday, July 1,2018

Left Colby, KS at 6:00 am headed west bound I-70. About 20 minutes out spotted Prevost entertainer bus, followed by another east bound. No big deal……But then another and another and with-in 100 miles total count.. 24.

    Mostly XL-II and few H3-45. Dead give-away 5 A/C units on top.

In 18 years of RV travel I have never seen a herd of Prevost that size.

Probably some large event Saturday night Denver area.”

We were running between Hays, Kansas and Limon, Colorado Monday morning, July 2, and counted over 30 entertainers, most with trailers plus mediums size box trucks with trailers that were probably sound and staging equipment. Most of the units had an placard in the window with a number and we saw numbers in the 50s. Must have been a huge show of some kind.

The Warped Tour was in Colorado on the 1st, and Missouri on the 3rd. That’d be my guess for the I-70 traffic.

Wow! There are a LOT of bands listed.

Did not recognize a single band’s name.

You know you are old when the “Oldies Station” plays way too new music.

    Hi Chad,

I’m curious how long you’ve had your 84 Liberty?

My son is flying up to Indianapolis on Saturday and will be driving a bus for one of the bands over the next month. Expect another caravan to be seen from Indiana, to Tennessee, to Florida to Montreal. Great stuff!

Harry, I’ve owned it for two years, but I only brought it home a little over a year ago. It has been a labor of love updating it and going through the systems, and it has also been a valuable education. I really appreciate the craftsmanship of both Prevost and Liberty, and have gone through every house system and many on the chassis. I probably wouldn’t have tackled much of this on a newer, more integrated coach, so I’m not likely to trade up in the future. The work is really my adventure, and the journeys are just a bonus!

I’m going to start a topic under Updates when I wrap up my projects for the summer. The cosmetic improvements have been modest, but I’m really happy with the overall progress. In a year or two she may even get some new paint. 🙂

Just met a Prevost Community member James Hufford in Spearfish. He has a 1966 American Eagle that is a real eye catcher. He share the history of his bus which is a neat story. The bus has 4 millon miles on it!!! and were afraid if a bus has 100,000 miles.

Wow, 4 million miles, that one is broken in for sure. Wish we were there Sid, one of our favorite spots.

Thanks Chad, An older bus can give us things to do for sure. But I’ve seen the same can be true of newer ones as well. There always seems to be something needing to be done. From a sliding door off the track to screws to be tightened and everything in between. I have a list of 11, most pretty easy, others a bit more troublesome. But all doable, I hope!

You mentioned maybe having your bus painted and I understand that’s a bunch of money? On the one hand it’s said you’ll never get your money back! But on the other hand if you like what you have then why not? It’s not as thought it’s going to depreciate anymore.

Prevost sighting, well kinda. 2005 Featherlite Vantare H3 45 double slide on CrankyApes Auction site. Goes off next Wednesday. There you go Harry a upgrade. Probably have to spend a fortune on it but we’re use to that with these older coaches.
