Another gen set issue
Started out this morning for New Orleans. Generator started and ran flawlessly for 12 or 13 hours. Stopped for the night no issues until I feel it sputter a couple of times then shut down. Code showing is UU – under voltage
Checked all the usual stuff. Fuel tank 3/4 full, bus level. Coolant in overflow bottle. Belt behind guard looks good and turns the alternator and water pump. Oil level full. Fuel line not kinked. Reset and gen started after a somewhat longer crank than usual. Checked the radiator and both fans turning and heat coming off. Gen ran for about 30 more minutes and repeated the sputter
Gen box seem warm but not super hot (I can touch the genset and pull it out without gloves).
Stumped as to where to go next.

Could it be clogged / dirty fuel filters? When were they changed last?

Is the auto-start engaged? If so, turn it off.
Battery condition, what’s gauge say. Maybe alternator or regulator has failed.
Fuel pump, they usually just fail, but may have a power issue.
Turn off the remote start switch and try gen from manual start.
I’ve had to change out gen fuel pumps on every bus I’ve owned, my 02 twice in 4 years. Just had to do mine last week, the Carter pumps seem to fail often. Usually they just quit and fail to pump fuel. I carry a spare.

Thanks for the responses. Filters etc changed every 30 hours, last time November. I have replaced the fuel pump once but may need it again. I need to check auto start but I believe it is off since I store the bus inside.
Strangely, after checking everything last night it fired up and has been running for 10 hours. Makes me think there is an issue somewhere with fuel delivery to the engine I.e. pump or some junk in the filter. Either that or my bus just misses Jeff!

You didn’t get down to about 1/4 on your fuel or park at angle with low fuel causing a pickup problem did you?

In theory, you shouldn’t get an “undervoltage” code while running to my understanding. What’s the make/model? I have had to replace 2 voltage regulators on my gen (Kohler) due to erratic performance. If output voltage drops, my gen will shut down.

3/4 full tank on level ground. Gen is a Kohler. I’m thinking it may be in one of the inverter controllers. My inverter #2 seems to acting up. The display at times displays non-sense when scrolling the menus.
Is there anyway to reset the inverters. Will pushing the “restore factory default” button do it or will it screw things up more?
just frustrating.

The reset will bring it back from the giber almost always, and it will bring it back to the Marathon setup…
