Another Fire
This is the 2nd fire in several weeks, be careful out there….
IREDELL COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) – A retired couple’s top of the line travel bus went up in flames Thursday evening at a rest area off I-77 in Iredell County.
“Every time I give it the gas a lot of smoke was coming out of it, and I noticed something wasn’t right,” Gene Yost said.
Gene and his wife Sara, snowbirds from Pennsylvania were on their way to Florida when smoke started billowing from the back of their travel bus. They pulled over near the Troutman exit in Iredell County at a rest stop to get help Thursday afternoon.

Hmmm, sounds like turbo failure. Or an uncontrolled amount of fuel was getting into the cylinders.

With a lot of smoke on acceleration it does sound like turbo-related failure. The hot exhaust side of the turbo is blanketed, so should be able to withstand the heat. To create a fire like that the turbo oil supply line would have to spray oil all over. Maybe we all should put a fire sleeve on the turbo oil supply line like they do on plane fuel lines in the engine compartment.

Looks to me as though the fire is high, exhaust goes through the roof on those.
