I toured a new Liberty Coach today and the owner was there with the salesman.
I asked the owner if he could build a new coach without Crestron (just out of curosity)…he said no. That the Crestron streamlines the wiring and everything is bascially set with this system (if I understood him correctly).
Amazing coach.

Jon you make my day when you talk like that. I was thinking that my little American was just a low budget coach but now Im sooooo glad I have to turn on things with a good old fashioned switch. Im pretty sure i have saved myself a lot of aggravation by buying one without all the bells and whistles. Yup she gets better looking every day.

I also had the Winegard dish with DISH HD receiver and service. It took forever to lock on the satellite and it didn’t take much to knock it out once in. Hence, my trepidation. I’m chalking it up to not having the right guys do the work and will plod on with better due diligence on my new bus. Your info is a good start.

Kevin, I do always switch-off my satellite control box when we are done viewing for the night. I do this because the switch and the power supply develop a lot of heat inside a small compartment. When I want to watch TV once again, I switch the Winegard controller box back on and it does usually take 2-3 minutes before the dish has locked onto 3 satellites. I think they are 110, 119 and 128. Once locked on, it stays that way for as long as I watch TV. Recently, during the Olympics, this was hours at a time.
As for your problem, perhaps, it is a bad cable between your dish and the VIP box?

Once my Winegard Trav’ler locks on the the three satellites, I turn it off. It stays in position and locked on for as long as I’ve every wanted. There is not need to keep it powered up.

my controller has only a single switch for powering on or off.
