I have replaced a few 50dn’s over the years with an air cooled alternator. Ive seen a couple failures over the years but also seen 50dn’s fail.

If you need to replace the alternator anyway id probably switch over if not id spend money on other maintenance that’s coming up

A lot of the Wanderlodge guys get rid of the DN50 and use a small Bosch. Easy to maintain, easy to source, cheap to buy, easy to carry a spare, no leaks – EVER. I’ve done this on two Wanderlodges and two Prevost (Royale and CC). Note Wanderlodges, Royales, and Country Coaches have 12v house systems.

If you’ve been on FB POG lately you likely saw the near disaster the fella with a XL2 had caused by multiple service errors with his DN50 at a Prevost facility.

If my DN 50 failed couldn’t you fix it, It also has a remote regulator so no regulator in my 12v DN50

Don’t have facebook. Any way you could share the post on the DN50 failure after Prevost service you noted in the form?

I don’t remember what brand I have but after a 2 replacement oil cooled 50DN’s failed within 18 months (one failure almost cost me the engine) I went to air cooled 24 volt. Can’t remember amp rating but I think it was 300. Coach is operated in high ambient temp conditions and has bus air. Air cooled alt now has about 160,000 miles on it.
