driving down I 5 wind blowing 20 plus. I was just enjoying the day and the all of sudden BANG . would you folks believe the passage side window blew out… scared the ….. well let’s just say I had change my underwear…
went to home depot and bought a piece of plastic glass and cut to fit and used alot of duct tape…

Wow Dave that is some story and so very happy to hear Liz is ok! We all know that stuff happens but that is really something else.
Could you get any idea what caused the shearing?
Again, happy you guys didn’t get hurt and sometimes its nice to have an in house washer and dryer!!!

Holy crap! Im glad that didnt cause an injury or accident. Did it do any interior damage? Please update the community as you investigate possible causes previous documented glazing repairs, type of silacone used etc. Thanks for posting this and i hope your shorts come clean!

it looks like the window was installed with double back tape …. not sure if that’s the way it came from the factory….. I will be using something a little more durable…

Window is factory bedded with Sikaflex 255FC (fast cure). Cheapest source is Prevost Parts, maybe up to $13 for standard caulk tube size. Get 2.

Assuming it is the passenger door window it is indeed secured in place with Sikaflex. All other windows use conventional rubber gaskets with locking strips.

Yes it was the Passenger side door fixed window . I will be ordering replacement and sealant when we get home tomorrow. we have been on the road for 19 months …only 2 things broke. the entry door lock and the window …. I would say not to bad ….

I think I would prefer the 6-8 more mundane failures I have in that period of time as opposed to your two.
I did, however, kaboom a tag tire at 75 mph…that was exciting!

How old/miles on that blown tag tire? Michelin?

Don’t know if mandatory but Sika sells a primer and Prevost told me to use it when I replaced my window.

Tag was a 4 year old Michelin with that had been rotated off the steer. Not sure of mileage without a lot of digging. Found a raised seam defect on the inside sidewall of another tag tire that had been rotated off the steer also at a much later date. Don’t know the cause of failure but it wasn’t age and I no longer rotate. Didn’t and still don’t have tpms so I have no way of knowing if it was slow puncture, road hazard or defect. Virtually nothing was left of the tire.
