    Hey Rudy!

I warmed it up by idleing with the parking brake on . It was in N when I pushed both arrows at the same time. It went through its countdown and showed 5 9. It was on low idle…

Well then Steve, I am in the same boat with you. Sorry to not have the answer you need.

According to my table “oL 59” does indicate engine speed too high. Should be low idle at 600 rpm; not the 700rpm you get at cold start.

    Howdy Gerald!

I had no doubt Rudy is right. It was idleing at low idle. It still may be too fast. I wonder if I can warm it up and shut down, key on and check it then??

It needs to be at operating temperature Steve..

    Tom,

it probably was not that hot. Does it need to be idleing to get a correct reading?

The transmission must be in neutral, within operating temperature range, and at low idle.

When you press the arrows there is a countdown so the information about fluid level is not immediately displayed. What you seek is a display that shows oL oK.

    This will help:

    Thank you Jon,

I did everything as the book you sent says, the DD was not hot but was warm. Maybe the idle was high for that reason. It did the countdown and came up 5 9. The Beaver link you sent earlier is no longer good. Thank you for the new one.

    Steve,

Chock the wheels and with the engine at idle release the parking brake. That will drop the engine out of high speed idle. I don’t think that cures your problem reading the level, but I am grabbing at straws. If the idle speed was too fast it would not go into gear so I have zero clue why you get that code, but think it is worth a try.
