  • Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2019 PC Rally

Posted by Fred F. on October 19, 2018 at 1:56 pm
Trying to make reservations for the 2019 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta October 5 – 13, 2019.
History shows that the sites sell out usually within an hour of reservations opening. 9AM MDT Tuesday morning October 23, 2018.
Looking at reserving 20 spots, but have several options.
STANDARD: $40.00 per night (dry camping) (South RV Lot) 1/4 to 1/2 mile away No entry tickets
BOX VIEW: $50.00 per night (dry camping) (South RV Lot). 1/4 to 1/2 mile away No entry tickets
PREMIUM: $95.00 per night (30Amp and water connection) (South RV Lot)1/4 to 1/2 mile away No entry tickets
VIP West/East: $100.00 per night (dry camping, adjacent to the Launch Field with 2 entry passes included valid during your stay.) 100 yards from field
PRESIDENT’S COMPOUND :$250.00 per night (Sites on a bluff overlooking the Launch Field with city water pressure and 30-50 Amp RV Hook-up, this site also includes 4 entry passes to the Launch Field valid during your stay.)
    {Water and Honey Wagon is available for $25 at all parking areas}
Parking, is first come first served, parked on arrival.
Mobility issues require renting a scooter from the Balloon Fiesta, no exceptions.
Saturday Mass ascension and evening activities
Sunday Mass ascension and evening activities
    Monday – morning activities only
    Tuesday – morning activities only
    Wednesday – morning activities only
Thursday – morning activities and evening balloon glow
Friday – morning activities and evening balloon glow
Saturday Mass ascension and evening activities
Sunday Mass ascension closes at noon.
It should be noted that balloon ascensions stop about 8:30 and balloons stop flying by 10:AM. I will also note that traffic into and out of the Balloon Park is extremely heavy before and after activities.
After a lot of discussion with past attendees and researching the schedule, it appears that most of the activities can be seen Saturday and Sunday with week activities mostly related to balloon pilot competition.
Lots to see and do in the Albuquerque area. Santa Fe only 48 miles North (can take the train), Numerous Casinos, Old Town Albuquerque, Acoma Pueblo, etc. all an easy day trip.
Strongly considering gathering at a ‘to be determined’ location and caravanning the buses to the parking area so that we can be together in the parking lot.
We have the following signed up:
Fink , Shade, Puleo, Karth, Chilcote, Williams, Pettit, Roderick, Jones, Davis, Watkins, Cowart, Hall, Ducote, Brown, Craft, Carter, Byrd, Fleming
We will make reservations based on what the majority wants to do as far as parking area therefore I need your input not later than Monday morning at 10 AM Eastern time. The results will be sent and anyone who does not want to do what is decided by the majority will be required to make their own reservations.

I’m in Freddy, whatever the majority does. I would prefer Presidents View, been there years ago and the only way to go, but will follow the crowd.

    Fred…

Count our vote for the President’s Compound, but we’re “infinitely flexible”, so will also follow the herd as well.

Thanks for putting it all together. I understand that you are uniquely qualified, having been a cat herder in one of your past lives…

The President’s campground is the BOMB and worth every penny. However, the $250/night should be incorrect. We just paid $175 this year and it was only that high due to making our reservation so late. Also, 1 dump is included at no charge for 3 days or more (maybe 2 for a week?). The next best is the dry camp site right there beside the President’s followed by those that are beside the balloon museum (dry camp as well). If you can, book the President’s campground. We had reservation #1 a number of years ago and, as would be expected, we were not able to make it. We sold it to some lucky guy for 1/2 price. This year was the first time in about 5 years that we have been able to enjoy this amazing event.

We’ve stayed twice at VIP West. Could not be any closer. Yes it’s dry camping but it comes down to location, location, location.

There is a lot of walking just going from one end of the launch field to the other. The launch field is 80 acres just by itself.

The Thursday – Friday “Special Shape Rodeo” is considered one of the highlights of the Fiesta.

Wish we could go next year. Y’all have fun.

We never have any way to know where we will be in a year but we would LOVE to do the ABF again next year. Please put me on the waiting list and if something comes up at the last minute we would be very interested in that spot if we are anywhere in the Western US.

Glad I could help you with your initial questions and hope to see you all there next year!

That whole reservation deal must be rigged and possibly run by folks in DC. Fred was on the phone exactly at the appropriate time right down to the second and they were sold out. Grrrrrr
