Albuquerque Balloon Festival
This is the first time to attend the balloon festival and it been unreal, we didn’t go down to the launch field this morning and glad we didn’t. About 15 minutes after the balloons started launching, they began landing in our RV parking area which was amazing, below are some pictures.

Ron, We had never been before now and will say its been well worth it for us. Anything I’ve seen or heard doesn’t do it justice. It’s best to go in an RV and park near the launch field, but you have to make reservations a year in advance, starting on the day they open up the reservation site. Here are a few more pictures.

That is really something Mark, it must have been fun to see them landing in the park? I didn’t know one of the balloonist was a forum member. That green one was certainly Jon after a couple beers?

We left today after magically grabbing 4 nights in the President’s campground at pretty much the last minute. Great weather with only a couple of disappointments with launches and balloon glows but that’s not at all unusual.
Just be careful, you could get photo bombed!

Great picture and no better place to park for the event… How did you ever pull that off? I too got lucky years ago just by just being in the right place at the right time.

We were parked in the VIP west parking lot about 200 yards from the launch field. As mentioned the night glow didn’t happen due to wind but its just part of the experience. Tom Gail made our reservations a year ago on the first day that they opened up the reservation system, they go within the hour. But its differently worth the work to get them, and doing in an RV is the way to go.

I don’t know how it happened, but we were working in Denver when we found out we would be done there just in time to make it to Albuquerque. Looked at the website and there were sites available? WHAT? We were in 1 night, had to pull out for 1 night and then return for 3 more nights. Spent 1 more night at the Sandia Casino before leaving Friday morning. By the way, 20 miles north of the Ballon Field and Sandia Casino is the Black Mesa Casino with a $20/night campground, even during Fiesta. We spent 1 night there as well. It was a great time.
