Alaska Convoy
Posted by TJ on June 25, 2021 at 9:12 amWe now have about ten people interested in putting together a convoy of buses to travel to Alaska early June 2022. If anyone is interested in joining us let me know. We would most likely meet up in Banff/Lake Louise.

Add us to the list. We’d be interested. We went about 7 years ago and it was amazing!

Have heard back from Wilderness Village. They can accommodate us. Their reservation system opens Feb. 1 for next year. Each site has power and water. And they have two dump stations. $92.40 CA including GST tax. Sounds like a great place they can accommodate 43’-120ft rigs with toads.

For those who have made the trip before, how much damage was done to your bus and your toad? If it was limited what special steps did you take to prevent it?

I made the trip 7 / 8 years ago, no damage,
all paved, unlike 2006 200 miles of un paved road

We made the trip in the summer of 09, no damage, the Al-Can hwy is all paved except for where frost heaves were being repaired between Whitehorse and the Alaska border.

We went to Alaska in 2014. We made it almost to Alaska without any issues… right as we entered Tok we got a chip in the windshield from rock truck going the other way. In 2014 Destruction Bay to Tok was mostly one lane with a pilot car at times as long as you went slow it was fine. Well worth the the risk of damage in our opinion. My wife and I plan to return again. We spent about 6 weeks and then took the ferry from Haines to Bellingham. Biggest tip would be to go slow!

Might be interested. How many days and how far up ya going. Been as far as Whitehorse, then up to Dawson City bus coach. Flew to Inuvik, and puddle hopper to Tuktoyuktuk on Arctic Coast in 8/2000
