Airflow for generator cooling
1998 Royale with powertech generator on driver side radiator on passenger side
Trying to see how air is drawn into hush box for cooling of generator.
Does the air draw through the hush box foam on the back wall of the hush box?
If so will the years of contamination of foam reduce the airflow for cooling efficiency?
The foam is very dirty and decomposed from the age of 21 years.
Suggestions for replacement.
I assume the original is adhesive attached. Amy suggestions for removal and attachment of new

Put this into the “search” box for the forum: “generator bay”.
There are a lot of examples of generator bays that have been rebuilt. Also in the “articles” section there is a pdf file I submitted years ago with pictures. It is way down close to the bottom of the list.
It is a dirty job to do, but worth it.

Soundown insulation is made for yacht engine enclosures. And is a good choice for generator bays.

My coach has a rectangular hole in floor protected with a grate to admit air and a hole in one side wall leading to a duct dumping exhausted air out the bottom of coach. There is an electrically powered blower in line in the duct which operates whenever gen is operating.

gmjdw. that fan is for extracting heat and fumes from the gen bay. Ours died due to all the insulation coming off the walls and being sucked into it.
