  • Air Floor & pocket doors & bay locks effected

Posted by Chuck on March 5, 2018 at 2:43 pm

The above items will not operate. When bus airs up the air floor comes out but will not retract and the doors and bay locks will not operate at all.

    Any suggestions.

Is it Cold? I had a few items stop working, turned out some water in the system froze and prevented air from getting to the accessories tank.

In my case, I put a space heater into the driver compartment to thaw it and then let out the water via the purge valve. All started working.

    Chuck,

Pocket doors, floor slide and bay locks on your coach share only the A-B system and Crestron and that might be the problem.

If they were acting up on my coach the first thing I would do is see what happens on every control source. For example, on the bay locks there is a button at the entry door on the switchpad, one on the rear camera display, one behind the driver’s seat, all using only the A-B system I think. Additionally there are bay door lock controls on the touch screens on several of the Crestron units.

If the locks function on the switches but not the Crestron it could be the Crestron is the issue and if nothing works it could be the A-B.

I’m way over my head with that question and I made up the answer.

Id check your air valve for the floor slide which should be mounted on the bottom slide of the floor in the driver compartment (at least on mine). Make sure you are getting power to the solenoid and the air connections are all there and you should start to be able to track it from there. I cannot remember if the floor out or floor in is the normal position. You can switch the air lines around if you need to while you test it.

As for the bay doors, is your entry door locking ok? Is it your keypad along with your clicker and button on the dash and crestron? There is a relay in the row of relays that controls the locks. Otherwise the wire diagram might give you a place to start. Relays #69-75 in the rear junction box should work the bay door locks if you want to check those as well. I dont have the book so I cant be much more help.

On an A-B equipped Liberty the bay door lock relay could be one of the small green ones at the rear of the electric bay. Easy to identify by having someone constantly click the bay lock switch and look for the red light that is going on and off over the faulty relay.

Also assuming the coach has additional relays for bay door locks on the LH bulkhead near the buss bars are one or two octagonal base relays that handle the switching loads for the bay door locks.

Step one is to make sure it is A-B related or Crestron related.

The switches on the panels inside the door and at the pocket doors do not work. The entry door locks and unlocks with the keyless entry. The crestron does not work either.

Chuck, It is likely a relay on the Liberty side so that would be where I start looking.

I am now looking into the fact that maybe the batteries are not charged since it has been sitting at an Allison shop (another story). Will charge the batteries and see if this is the case.

Thanks for all these suggestions and can’t tell you how important this forum is for someone like myself.

    Thanks everyone!

We can imagine a lot of reasons for the problems, but low batteries was not one of them.

For purpose of follow up….On coaches with Allen Bradley control, The A/B must be operational in order to do anything on the inside of the coach as well as to have the system recognize shore power and allow that shore power to come into the coach. So even after running your engine to charge the house batteries, A/B not functioning will cause operation failure of shore power, Gen control and power, as well as interior functions….This is a rare failure, however Mr. Connors was fortunate enough to have it happen to him…
