Air bladder failure
Good grief. It gets better. Or worse, really. This morning we noticed a loud hissing sound. Front slide bladder lost all pressure. This Marathon lot may have “free rent” but it’s costing a bundle. They’re quoting us about $5000. Does that sound reasonable?

Last price I heard for a front seal was $2400. That mahy be low. About 8 man hours to replace it is required. This presumes you have a Prevost slide.
If you want to do your own seal it can be done. I have done 2 so far and there is no real physical requirements, but it does require an understanding of the process and some sort of work platform so you can get to the top of the seal and walk the whole length of the slide room.

How often do you have a problem with seals. Is it a on going deal with slides. Had a Alfa years ago and never had a problem with it, but it was a simple seal.

In the case of Vantare conversions, seals are no more of an issue than they were for your Alfa. Vantare uses generic bulb-style door seals, non-pressurized. The slide body has flanges with two seals per slide, one mounted on the exterior of the bus body and one mounted on the interior slide body flange. The exterior seal seals when the slide is retracted, the interior flange mounted seal seals when extended. No air compressor, no worry of loss of pressure during extended storage, no pressure induced bending stresses on bus cutout or slide body, puncture proof, long lasting, and cheap! 🙂

We had the forward slide bladder fail while on a trip. The repair was about $4200 (05-XLII) in 2011. Not exactly what
you want to spend while on vacation. I know they quote 8 hrs for the job but most experienced techs are at 6 hrs.
First bladder taken out of the box (my request for match) turned out to be wrong one. They had another in stock and that was correct.
I do recall Prevost has lowered the constant in or out slide psi pressure on the bladder to under 10 lbs. Make sure they make that change. Your bus age is in the group where that change was made.

Cathy & John, I share your pain … As posted in the following thread, I went through the same experience a couple of months ago. The Prevost seal for the front slide was charged to me at $3700 plus labor of, I think, 6 hours.
