Air bag part numbers?
I’ve learned that all but one of the air bags on my recently acquired ’96 coach are original. So, in the spirit of preparedness, I started Googling around and found an informative archived POG thread from 2008 in which there was much discussion regarding Prevost part numbers for the front air bags and whether changed part numbers had a bearing on the front of a coach not reaching proper ride height. I’ve also started reading through the postings here in PC on the topic of replacing air bags. Good information.
But, I am wondering whether the issue of part numbers has been resolved since 2008. Will I get the right product if I just call Prevost with my coach info? Have others found air bags from other than Prevost to be satisfactory? All input is valued!

When you call Prevost Parts, you will give them your vin number from which they will determine the correct parts. They occasionally have a sale on these at a price that’s hard to beat.

That problem has been resolved long ago, with the help of Bill Jensen and folks that are now on this site. Jon was instrumental at the time and probably remembers the details better then me, but it involved the correct airbag number being 259.

Thank you both, and especially Tom for advising the issue was resolved. The old thread was back in 2008, but I know that once something gets on the Internet, it lives on forever and it’s easy to get the wrong info.

I would be reluctant to use numbers from an old thread. Prevost / Volvo have been changing numbers so I would rely on Elgin to provide you with the part numbers now called out for your model coach.
There have been changes since we found the error caused by transposed part numbers so I would suggest you get the Prevost part number and the number used by the trade, such as 11R-104 (I made that up but that will be the format for the trade number). Then with the trade number you can do some price comparisons.
Unless something has changed nobody has ever priced air bags as good as Prevost prices.

I just purchased 3 for the right rear 1R11-088 from prevost i beleive they run 1900 each MFG date 12/15 if you find a place to buy them a better price please post .. i am going to replace all the shocks this summer!

I purchased 3 more bags today and i purchased them from prevost. What found is the front and the tag axle take the same bag and the drive axle takes a different one …. just my luck!

The above is a true statement for certain vintages of coaches, but does not apply to all. When purchasing get part numbers from Prevost based on coach VIN.

Hey Thanks Kirby!!! I am doing the same thing right now. Replacing air bags. I have searched the web and found the same information from other sites. Thanks to all you fellow PC guys for chimming in on this subject!!! Just finished all but two rebuilds of my norgren valves. Got rebuild part numbers and ordered direct from Norgren. Very easy to set up account and order. Bad news is I have a 5 speed manual with a hydralic clutch. Master cylinder went out and had to order from Ford parts. Luckily I got the last one available known to man. Called Prevost and they said they could get me one made and delivered in 3 months. That would be great if I wasn’t backwards in my RV site! Got the master cylinder installed and bleed air from lines everything working until I go to see if all the lines are tight and snap off the fitting coming from the master cylinder. Oh well, just another day in the life of bus ownership!
