  • Air bag discovery

Posted by AL on October 4, 2014 at 9:39 am

2000 Marathon HS-45, 140,000 miles, bus lived in west coast most of its life. I knew from PDI air bags were on the list for replacement. Saw cracks on nearly all bags ….. Made this one of the first items for replacement.

All Norgren valves replaced, air dryer serviced ,new engine driven air compressor and govenor.

Others had cracks but worst were 2 front.

We are in the process of replacing ours and so far the take offs look like new !! Only have the tags left to do… no cracking or aging yet… but we will have peace of mind knowing that everything that should be done has been done… will be better than a new bus to us.

I did mine some looked new others had cracks in them but it is good to replace them if you don’t know how old they are that will stop you dead on the side of road if one goes , the other thing that will stop you dead on side of road is the big braided air line coming from compressor to air dryer , I always carry a spare no air no go!!!!
