  • Age Related Insurance

Posted by Archived on April 7, 2014 at 3:59 pm

I have learned today that when we start getting as old as Tom there is a price to pay.

Insurance companies now base premiums on calculations done by computers and the computers have some trigger points. The year following when you reach 60, or 65 or 70 you will trigger an “adjustment” in your premiums. The adjustment as you already know is the premiums will go up.

It is a fact of life and there is nothing any of us can do about the age related change in premiums.

The hidden message here is if you are young, you are a risk because your accident rates are higher. If you are old the insurance company presumes you cannot get your foot on the brake fast enough, and when you do get it there, you forget why. I have been assured the insurance companies are now seeking reasons to jack up the rates for you middle agers thinking if you can afford a Prevost, you can afford the premiums.

If you had a smart phone, the age increase is offset by the smart phone ownership because the insurance company knows your a savy dude and not likely to fall asleep at 62 mph while listening to Mr. Sandman…

Hey……..I’ll have you know I got the “Lennon Sisters” discount. It’s based on the fact anybody in their fan club is so old they cannot even climb into the driver’s seat.

OK……I’m kidding. I can still climb into the driver’s seat with a little goosing from Di.

Ten funny things that happen to your body as you age:

    2

    3.

    4.

    5.

    6.

You don’t have “Insurance” Jon … If you are like most folks you have … “Premiums.”

Would you like a copy of “Lawrence Welk Remembers Woodstock?” I can burn you one.

    Don,

Why would you burn me one. Wouldn’t the vinyl warp if you did that?

I went to the movies yesterday. While standing in line to buy a ticket I noticed a sign on the ticket booth window that indicated I was eligible for a senior discount. For some reason I was surprised. I don’t know why. I’d been eligible for quite some time, but until that moment I’d never once considered availing myself of this somewhat dubious perk.

Anyway, I jokingly pointed out to the young girl in the ticket booth that I was indeed old enough to be treated as a senior. She nodded and proceeded to give me the discount.

I asked if she wanted to see proof of age. She glanced at me, shrugged he shoulders and said, “Nope.” The movie was a comedy, but I was in no mood to laugh. I just sat there and sulked until I fell asleep.

Strange how time and the language change along with the meanings. All of us old bus junkies are used to the initials SOB applied to some other brand, often used to describe our ride, which is often something other than a late-model Prevost. But when we are broke down six feet off the safe parking, just south of Provo, Utah. The anachronism SOB … filling the air … has nothing to do with Make & Model, trust me.

Alas, as is my habit, I digress toward thread drift and that is not allowed. Don’t want some old geezer mounting me for that, so I will get back to the subject at hand.

    Age.

We all get older, we all change, but somehow the spirit remains strong. Like I said … Funny how the language changes isn’t it? In the Sixties “Burn One” meant something completely different than copying a disc (ask Tom he was over there).

Here is something you can possibly relate to Jon … Stayin’ Alive Watch them right-handers.

I am not as “old” as some others, but I do give the young girls a hard time at the grocery store a hard time when they dont ask me for my ID when buying beer. Especially here in Georgia where they are pretty much forced to ask everyone for their ID. Of course it mostly happens when I havent shaven for a couple days and my “gray” is really showing.

On the other hand, GEICO hasn’t been come out and mentioned Im too old and they need to charge me more, so I guess Im good without the movie discount. Which is a good thing since we dont go to the movies, but once a year 🙂 I guess I could be doing worse things when going through my second mid-life crisis then buying a Prevost.

My insurer didn’t tell me I was too old either……….they just jacked up the rates. I just told them they had me confused with Truk and Okie, they apologized and cut my premiums in half, and jacked up Truk and Okie’s rates. Works for me.

Actually our coaches come with a force field surrounding them so nothing comes in contact with the coach, offering total protection. It’s kinda like the CC plastic bra, only it’s invisible and works better.

And my coach was equipped with the no fuel feature. It runs on hot air (mine) and not that expensive diesel fuel.

Jon is once again, correct. This is a serious issue, too many instances of increase in policy payments, and that expense is usually not justified. Everything is getting way too expensive.

Things have clearly run amuck in this country.

When I was a mere lad, my momma would send me down to a corner store with $1 and I’d come back with 5 potatoes, 2 loaves of bread, 3 bottles of milk, a hunk of cheeze, a box of tea and 6 eggs.

You cannot do that now, too many **!*&<@!)?(*%#) security cameras!
