  • Adjusting pressure on Thomas aux compressor

Posted by Per on July 3, 2017 at 5:16 pm

Is there an easy way to adjust the pressure setting on the Thomas aux compressor? Seems like 120 psi should be more than needed for the bed lift, bath door, foot rest and generator air bags, which has a pressure reducer already. Would think less pressure should be less opportunity for air leaks.

Found an air leak on the Prevost side yesterday. Prevost aux had been dropping to zero overnight–used to only drop 20 psi or so. Sprayed some soap on the pressure regulator mentioned on the forum, but no bubbles. Sprayed on the minibag connections, and got big bubbles on the airbag connection for the triple belt minibag. Simple tightening, and back to just dropping 20 psi overnight. Sometimes it is just easy!

My regulator is in the steering bay and I set mine to 90 psi cut-out. It’s just a simple well pump regulator, but I did have to replace it because it was unreliable.

I have a pressure switch which cuts on at 85psi and cuts off at 105psi. My Marathon Aux tank usually will hold air 4-5 days before going to zero if I turn my compressor off. I guess I could put a lower psi regulator there instead, but I figure it’s another source for leaks in the future.

My Prevost Aux Air & Brakes have been holding at 105psi indefinitely.

Good job Tim, a tight aux system on your Prevost side is a rare commodity.

    Tom,

I don’t see a separate pressure switch unless it is under the cover on the back of the pump itself. Is that it?

And Happy Independence Day to everyone on the forum!

    Ditto what Don posted.

Thanks, Don. I have a different setup on my coach. took the cover off the back of the pump, and sure enough, there is a screw adjuster for the pressure. Turned it down to 90, will try that for a while.
