Added “Emergency” Fresh Water Tank Fill
I don’t post nearly as much as I read, yet thought this might help someone.
While preparing to replace drinking water filters in my passenger side water bay, I decided to remove the water bay enclosure cabinet so I could inspect behind it. While tracing water lines, etc., I realized no secondary means to fill the fresh water tank existed.
Water can only be added to our water tank by depressing a button which opens a 24 volt ASCO brand solenoid valve, allowing water to auto-fill the tank. I immediately thought I have to add another mean in which to fill the tank in the (probably unlikely) event that solenoid fails.
As can be seen in the photo, after the solenoid is a short piece of Gates multi-purpose hose that leads to the fresh water tank inlet. I ordered from NAPA auto parts more identical hose then added a TEE and from the TEE ran a 7′ section of the new hose to the other side with a female garden hose fitting which will allow me to bypass the auto-fill solenoid. So glad I heeded Jon’s advice to look behind every door, cover, etc. BEFORE a problem occurs. At least now, a failed difficult-to-access solenoid will not ruin a trip!
