AC Compressor replace
We just got home from a 600 mile short trip in hot weather and I had a feeling the dash AC was not going to work because of the oil spray on skin of engine inner door. I’ve never replaced replaced an AC compressor before. I would need a compressor and a dryer? do I order it from Prevost or from a truck shop? It shows 134a for Freon so that’s good. The compressor shaft seal must of let loose a few months ago when spray started so what’s scoop? I have a neighbor friend that has a truck service center that I was going to take it too , to install compressor and dryer and charge system.??? Another thing sense I replaced all silicone hoses and both thermostats it cooled perfect.

Should I change to a rotary compressor or stay with a piston compressor??

Those York compressors are cheap Art, easily got at truck parts places, Iusually got mine at Fleetpride. I changed them if 2 years old as a PM.

Hey Tom this one is a TCCI MFD date 01-06 2 different # No A4291156 PT ER210L-225149 which is part # and ESTER OIL You change the compressor every 2 years? are they that bad?

Yes, a couple hundred bucks for the compressor and a new dryer was my PM and I had Jeff do them. The early ones needed mineral oil for using R12, now it’s Ester as your label shows. I had several fail while on trips and just got tired trying to find someone to work on it during the busiest and hottest part of the year. Careful with the Freon line connections, there are 2 different style fittings.

Art, i have replaced several and it gets old doing so. I decided to let it go and now I start the gen and run the roof airs. Works perfectly fine and I don’t have to replace that darn compressor anymore. Good luck.

Art looking at your picture want to be sure you have enough room for rotary compressor, might hit fan drive .Last one I did bought new York style most are rebuilt and don’t do as well.All these compressor like yours are known as York style .Good luck.

Thanks I already decided on the TCCI piston compressor part # ER210L-25149 I don’t want to retro fit it. Prevost part# 950393 $364.50 but I found the same part at Truckac.com for $243.60

Art, Did you receive and install your ac compressor? I need one. Did the installation match up without any changes? Not able to find the TCCI ER210L-25149 here in Dallas Tx Would like to verify the fit before ordering on line from truckac.com. Thanks, Darrell

I just received my new compressor a T/CCI ER210L-25149 their part # 300-7117 looks the same as old compressor, I also bought a new dryer 07-0601A,ME17388 their # 825-3808. Reading the instructions it says to also replace Filter/Dryer also Expansion valve is that in front and is that necessary ?? Here is a picture shows expansion valve up front??

What are these valves in the rear where the back of brake light Low pressure switch, High pressure switch, and one more switch By pass valve, looking at drawing it only shows 2

Here is electrical schematics on standard ac it shows 2 sensors hi pressure & lo pressure if you look at pictures it has 3 sensors 2 of them have blue wires and 1 has black wires, what is the 3rd with black wires??
