ABS Light
Hello all – I’ve rather hit a wall a bit and am stumped with how best to proceed concerning a steady ABS light on the dash (Anti-Skid)
The rig is a 1995 Prevost Marathon with one of the first ABS systems implemented prior to being required around 1998, or so I’m told.
The ABS module in the front run bay gives a blink code error of 2-6-7. For a model C, the Wabco manual says that this code is a low-voltage error or a bad relay for Voltage Relay #2 within the Wabco system.
Calls to Prevost and Marathon produced the location of the relay in question, which is Relay #50 24v SPDT 2700 resistance. The rig uses the same relay across multiple positions, so I have swapped the relays with known-good ones with no joy. I’ve also measured electric current across sockets 86 and 85 and verified 23.8 volts – this is with the relay removed and testing the sockets where the relay plugs in.
Here is where it gets stranger: I took the rig to a shop, who connected a Wabco Tool Box analyzer. The analyzer said there were no codes, neither stored nor active. Just for the heck of it, the shop re-set the system from the software side of things – but still no joy. The light persists.
Calls to Wabco found that the ECU is ok and so is the software based on the no-codes-returned – so it isn’t the ECU itself or corrupted firmware according to Wabco. Wabco says it must be a wiring issue of some sort.
I’ve consulted schematics galore and everything appears to check out as far as continuity and voltage (to the best of my somewhat limited understanding).
Any ideas or pointers for where to look? According to the Wabco manual, there is no ‘reset’ on the system itself; the only way to clear codes is to fix whatever the problem is.
Any assistance much appreciated 🙂
John
