A very successful trip
I’m not too sure where to begin as there are several thoughts that I would like to share. Whenever I drive my coach the first day on a trip or new adventure I am admittedly nervous or excited. These coaches are huge and heavy…..everything has to be cautiously planed and thought out. But after a few hours of driving it all begins to feel normal. After having driven 10,000 miles this year and only having owned the coach for less than one year I believe I am a very competent driver. At minimum I feel more comfortable driving my coach.
The past two weeks I have driven to Indian Head located in Saskatchewan. I took my eldest daughter to a wedding located out there. The prairies are amazing……..gorgeous to say the least. As a Canadian it is sad to say but I have never driven across Canada, having only driven in the USA. Having said that there is a little more planning involved if travelling in Canada, and I am only referring to the western provinces. First fuel stops are less available so you have to be careful not to stretch your travel distances. Second, few campgrounds have 50amps so you need to research your campsites in advance and book accordingly. Third, some roads are in very poor shape, so stick to the main highways.
So so enough of my ramblings. But I will leave you with two things I found out along my travels. First if you are hooked up to 30amps, make sure your two breakers for the inverter charger are on the ON position. I turned one off thinking I would shed some of the the load, but found out that only one leg was at full voltage, and the other leg was non operable. With both charger breakers on each leg had full power and all you had to do was manage your electrical load.
Lastly, I found a gem of a place to visit. It is the town of Val Marie Saskatchewan located within 40 miles of the USA border (Montana). The town is the gateway to Grasslands National park which is the last remaining area of protected prairie land. Absolutely gorgeous! Now the road to Val Marie is not for the faint of heart as it is very rough. JUst take it slow. There is a community campground located in the town and it offers 50amps.
OK enough said……..the coach, driver and co-pilot performed flawlessly.

Glad everything worked out , not everyones first trip goes well… trust me ….
well i retired on friday and we leave in 2 weeks for about 3 weeks 5k trip… then the wife retires in Nov . then we are off full time and see where life leads us …. to say we are a little nevrous is a understatement !
eough about us .. hope you have many more miles and safe trips infront of you ! hope to run into some of you on the road !

So glad You and Laurie had a enjoyable successful trip. I enjoyed reading Your post about traveling in Canada. The Misses said She would like to venture up there some day. If I ever make it , I will probably hit You up for some more info. Like , where is the best place to cross the border in Your opinion. But with Yourself being Canadian , The crossing guards would probably not give You as much grief as they do some Amuricans. I talked to a member from Texas the other day that had a funny story about flying to Detroit and renting a car and driving across the border to look at and purchase a coach. Anyway , You have a beautiful coach and Yes , I did finally get My jake brake fixed.Was a pleasure to meet You both,
