A Thrill
This past weekend we went to Buttonwillow raceway for another track day where my 2 boys track their cars, It’s nice to get the bus out and use it,they have a nice RV sites rite next to the track I like to go and watch the events and look at the cars, In my younger days I had 3 different Camaros but we were straight line racers not road coarse . Oldest 2017 ZL1 supercharged Camaro youngest 2017 turbo BMW 340. It’s not a race but a timed event 5 different classes from expert to beginner group. Anyways they go in 20 minute sessions usually about 8 to 9 laps in a session. Both boys not expert class but next class back. So anyways they talked me into a ride along, watching all these times doesn’t look all that fast, Boy I was wrong! Went with Brian in the BMW we were in a group of about 20 cars they send cars out in 3 rows 1 row at a time till all the cars are on the track. by the end of 8 laps I was ready to get out of the car I did not expect how fast on the curves and the acceleration in the curves, R compound type tires pretty soft amazing that you can go around a sharp corner with so much power without spinning out. 2nd photo I’m in the passenger seat, Pretty fun stuff.

Art, my son was there couple weeks ago with his club! He’s new at tracking but said that it is a blast, his buddy’s have been doing it for a while and are teaching him the ropes. The kid drives a Miata.
Good to know there is RV parking, will defiantly go next time to check it out, looks fun.

This is a good safe thing to do with Covid, no groups, drivers meetings outside mask required and spaced apart, people that were walking around looking at cars were wearing mask. My BMW son got his vaccine today he’s in medical field.

The track hobby is what led me to the motorhome hobby. I call it my “track-crack”. Fun stuff!

We drive up and down Hwy 5 all the time from S.F. to Las Vegas. I never knew there was a race trace there. I don’t recall ever seeing any signs.

10 miles south of Lost Hills or 10 North of Buttonwillow exit rite in the middle is Lerdo hwy it’s there you can see the trees West off I-5 about 1/2 mile off FWY
