A Royale Pain in the Dash Air
After returning from a short test drive to make sure all systems were working, I opened the water bay (4th bay) and discovered freon oil was everywhere. A subsequent check of the drivers freon system pressure found it to be totally flat. Am assuming the leak occurred in one of the two freon hoses for the system. Attached pics shows the suspected source of the leak. I will need to remove one of the two fresh water tanks to get access to the hoses. Has anyone experienced a leak in one of these hoses. If a hose failed (I’m hoping to find a loose fitting), what am I in for to remove and replace one/them? Any words of wisdom about replacing them? Any advice on removing a water tank from a Royale?

Since the system has no pressure there is the probability nothing you do is going to do any harm. If I had the problem I would first try to find the leak by pressurizing the system, preferably with nitrogen. Then use a soapy solution to see if the leak is visible without tearing out tanks.
Once you know where the leak is you can go about fixing it. Repressurizing the system will verify it is leak free again.
Obviously you need a new dryer, need to add oil and refill it with Freon.
Just a guess……..if it was a small leak like a loose connection the chances are there is going to be signs of dirty oil around the leak. As it wept small amounts of freon and oil it picked up dust and dirt and over time it gets dirty looking and the oil smudge increases in size making it apparent. But if it was sudden such as a hose failure it is unlikely you will see any more than clean oil around the leak.
Last post I saw from the green machine owner indicated he was having an AC problem also.

I feel your pain Brian! What a nightmare to have to pull the tank(s). I’m working in the opposite side bay and have everything removed except the Aqua-Hot and looks like your tank will have to come out the plumbing side. Unfortunately, Royale unlike Liberty, hard piped all the PVC, but that’s easy enough to deal with. It seems unusual for the A/C line to spring a leak at the hose or fitting since it’s in such a protected and vibration free area.
Keep us posted on your progress. I had the water tank out of the Green Machine in about 1 hour. I know that’s just wanted you wanted to hear.

As Jon suggested, pressurize the system and look for leaks
with soap bubbles. The size of the apparent leak with droplets of oil and no
accumulated dust suggests a large sudden failure. If you are lucky it may just
be a fitting but as Tom indicated this is a low vibration area that is
reasonably accessible and something may have cut or punctured one of the lines.
If the line has been damaged, you can purchase an in line repair kit from
Parker and others that will eliminate the requirement to try and fish the line
from one end of the bus to the other.
