  • A good 50 AMP Automatic Transfer Switch

Posted by Art on October 8, 2024 at 5:30 pm

I ask this question before and didn’t get a good answer, My Mavrick 50 amp ATS is getting close to dying, It has low and high power protection , I also have wired in a Progressive Industries EMS-LCHW50 amp Surge Protector with over-under protection, So I need a good solid ATS switch which does not hum to loud. I like Victron and Hughes products but I don’t think they make a ATS

They do make inverters with built in transfer switches

I bought 2 new Magnum 2812 inverters 4 years ago, I really don’t want to scrap them.

Auto transfer switches are very simple relays and easy to change if you can get to them and if they are not built into the inverter/charger(s). My suggestion would be to separate the transfer function from the power protection function by using a power pole plug in unit for the latter and any auto transfer switch for the former. If you want to add soft start for all you induction loads then uses the Active Start plug in unit that also has all the power protection functions. If you don’t care about soft start for the induction loads then use some other brand of power protection plug in units.
