A fine winter welcome
Headed home from Dallas-Prevost spending the night in OKC. Early this morning I check the weather and there looks like a good window of opportunity to make KC today with dropping temps later in the day.
All working good until Tulsa and then this little white stuff goes into overdrive. I’am in a big snow storm. Getting ahold of Mary Ellen with a current weather update which has been revised to travel only if needed. It is now snowing very heavy, traffic is moving on I-44 at 45 mph. normal 75 mph.
Ahead I see red-blue lights and lots of them. 3 semi’s, 4 cars all of which passed me some time ago there speed way to fast for conditions are tied- smashed together. One lane of traffic to pass on the shoulder. Next exit …..I’am parking it for the day.
So here we sit at Big Cabin, OK truck stop and I’am just happy to be here all in one piece

Hell yes BA, they opened in 1966. That was a big time place when I was trucking. I hope your parked under a light or you might be getting a knock on your door tonight, ha.
There used to be a big round table in the corner where you would sit if you wanted to talk to anybody, you know, kicking that cat and walking that dog, shifting a 2 stick bitch. Stuff like that.

Hey Al…sounds like our weather is better than yours right now…we only got about 4 inches the other day and it is in the teens right now, expected to dip to close to zero next couple of nights. We need more snow before the sub zero temps come along to keep the septic system from freezing!
My bus is all tucked in for the winter. 60 degrees in the bus garage and everything cleaned up.
Hope you get back ok and don’t get tangled up in any wrecks.

Wise choice.
The first snows of the year are used to retrain the morons who forgot snow was slippery and they usually have to end up in a ditch or banging into someone before they learn they suck as drivers.
Fog is another good reason to stay parked.
I had to drive in crappy weather (fly the plane in it too) when I had a job. It was no fun. Now I get comfortable and take the time to read a book while the road warriors thin out their ranks.

Glad to hear your safe… We hit all kinds of white stuff coming home from branson. Several wrecks and I-44 was a mess pretty well the whole way home…. the closer we got to home the worst it got. I have driven our bus in snow two other times but I have to say today was the first time I have ever felt it slide. We got it unloaded quick and in the bus garage to defrost. It’s just about as dirty as it was getting off the alaskan highway. If it warms up Will and I will come over and Take full advantage of Big Al’s DI bus wash.

Glad you r parked Al safe , Bill good to see u guys r home safe too no fun driving in bad weather, I have to drive in bad weather for my business but I do not like it , more gray hairs every time I have to drive in bad weather if I was the only one on road it would not bother me but looking out for all the other drivers is stressful, Be safe everybody!!!!!
