A/C Galley down due to low pressure
A/C went down due to low pressure. i restarted and worked for 10 min then stopped again…before I picked up the coach from Marathon, it was serviced for same issue. Problem – loose packing nut. Resolve – tighten nut and added R22.
Where do I start to troubleshoot? Photos will be helpful.

I assume that it is a Cruise Air,if so you can use a micron gauge and a very good vaccum pump and verify that it will pull to 100 microns or less.You can also put 300-325 PSI of nitrogen in the system and use bubbles to check for leaks,with that much pressure it is usually easy to find the leak.The hot gas by-pass valve is also a common area of failure which might not be the case with units from 2000.The glands on the hi and low valves also are an area where it is common to find leaks,they tighten with a 7/16 open end wrench and I snug them up fairly tight,the nitrogen test works in that area.

After you check pressures – if they are good – check your low pressure switch. We have one here that experienced the same issue (was recently charged up, but still shutting down on lo PS intermittently) .. checked pressures when it arrived at our shop, which were good. Ended up being a bad pressure switch.

The Glands are at the freon valves they have a plastic cover on them that can be removed with a 7/8 socket,the hot gas valve is inside the unit and I doubt that it can be removed without removing the condensing unit.I think that your vintage has the better hot gas valve and it is probabally not the problem,call AAP and they can help you determine if yours could have the plastic one that almost always fails.

You need Al to tell you, he has the same vintage Marathon H. My salon and aux cruisair condensers are behind the front bumper and the galley and bedroom condensers are 1st bay curbside. Yours is probably different.
