94 Vantare hot water tank winterization
Hi folks, and thank you for all the valuable forum information I have benefited from reading over the past 5 years that I have owned a 1994 Vantare conversion.
I normally winter in Florida, so winterization has never been a consideration for me, but this year is different. I will be in a zone where freezing is inevitable, and so I winterized the bus this week, paying attention to all water lines and tanks, but, I am embarrassed to say, I cannot find a hot water tank to drain! Should be obvious right?
The bus is equipped with an Aquahot, which has antifreeze in its circuit.

Hi John I am a Aqua Hot Tech and I have a 97 Royale, I can winterize mine in less than 15 min. I don’t know if you have normal water pumps or the Head hunter pump? Very Important you winterize the Aqua Hot, On the older ones like you and I have 431/12 the water coil is bonded on the outside of the boiler tank and if it freezes your done for, even after 03 the coils went inside the boiler tank but even submerged in antifreeze if the water coil has water in it it will freeze and burst. If you have a regular type water pump or pumps you buy a winterizing kit simple a device that installs in between water pump and tank, you turn the valve on and it sucks from small hose you buy from Walmart 3 gallons of RV winterizing antifreeze $3 bucks a gallon with valve turned turn pump on turn hot water at sink on when it turns pink your good, I don’t have a cloths washer so I rund all the faucets hot side and cold side and when all pink your good. Not a very good pic of valve but lower left of picture it’s brass.
