The picture shows chaffing or rubbing damage. I would change those 2 wires and give it a try.

Here’s a friends 2000 Marathon H. He just removed the gen and sent the end unit off.

As Mikee posted …damage is 2 wires. Repair and give it a try.

Heat kills the Genny . My Vantare conversion locked the Genny in a tight box ” Bad Idea ” $20k later I’m back in business . New Genny head and rebuilt motor . I so fear heat I want to install a thermostat in the box to provide me temperature readings on the dash just in case the fan stops working . After 20k on a Genny you start thinking crazy .

That isn’t crazy. Having a remote thermometer in the generator box with a warning device in the coach is NOT crazy at all!
2005 XL Thompson Coach
Rarely tow anything behind us.
Sold: 1993 Liberty that we loved for 12 years. -
I I use a Govee thermometer with alerts to monitor the interior temp if I am away and my dogs are in the coach.
Also use the same device in winter to ensure basement bays don’t get too cold.
Downsides:
1) requires 3 AA batteries
2) requires internet service to send alerts
