50DN Jinx
Jon, your story about Prevost having to install your 50DN twice must be a jinx.
Elite sent my 50DN out for a rebuild to a local shop who has been rebuilding his fleet’s alternators flawlessly for 20 years. Reinstalled it and no joy.
Tore it back apart and the new stator had a short under the lacquer. Fortunately between the two shops they are eating the cost.
On the bright side, with practice they can now remove one in 90 minutes!

Replacing a 50DN on an 8V92 has to rank near the top when it comes to the hardest Prevost jobs to do.
Trying to lower the alternator down over the bell housing, and then get it back up over the bell housing and getting it in place at a weight of about 135# is a miserable job.
