  • 5 stack & K41EA00KS1KV2 “ARMATURES”

When rebuilding your level low 5 stack and/or K41EA00KS1KV2, here is what you get when you order “armature”, pt# 54462-31. I ordered the coils separately too. I did it this way because my coaches 5 stack is 12v, pt# D0043EP5U2, and Norgren wanted $500+ for the complete unit. I bought all the components separately and saved $$. For folks with 24v 5 stacks, pt# D0043EP5W2, can be had for $233

    Thanks for sharing.

I’m assuming you then create a 3 way or 2 way valve from each of these solenoid valves?

If so – It would easy to keep an extra on the coach in case you have a failure?

The solenoid valves rarely fail, and generally when they need replacing they are leaking but still functioning.

If a person is looking to carry spares the first choice should be the solenoid valve coils. When they fail it is a sudden and total failure. Prevost installs 24V coils on these Level Low control valves, but Liberty Classic coaches typically have 12 volt, not readily available from Prevost so those are definitely prime candidates to be carried as spares.

I do not understand what is meant by 2 and 3 way valves. These valves when “open” (energized) supply air to the plunger on the Norgren 3 and 5 port valves, and when “closed” (de-energized) exhaust the pressure in that circuit.

No, my level low Norgren 5 stack setup has 5 of these and then I have two Norgren K41EA00KS1KV2 that have 1 each, for a total of 7.

    Your bus may vary?

    12v coil(54452-02, $22ea) and/or 24v coil(54452-03,$16ea) are readily available online from Norgren Express.

Like everything on our Prevost, rarely does anything fail. Nothing on my buses air system has failed, but here I am changing out everything, especially rubber stuff. These “armatures” have rubber in them and it isn’t getting any younger
