24 volt coils for level system
Posted by Bob on January 3, 2012 at 5:59 pmSomeone robbed them off the 98 while it was setting. Prevost #641144 nor#54932-27 There are 5 of them . Looks to be only reason system would not function. Wires spools etc are all there. I assume the 27 is the voltage in the last #=24 volt coil. The way you guys helped previous poster out I have hopes I can avoid the $400 investment from prevost for the parts. I have crossed referanceb them for $67 each .still well over 330$ any other ideas????Or is this system worth maintaining?. The stock leveling system that is. Bob

Bob,
I’ve never had any luck trying to cross the numbers over because they’re propietary for Prevost. My 24v coils are 641929 at 33.89 and the valve is 641928 at 39.30. I assume your referring to the 5 port valve assembly in the steering bay. The middle one is the ride height and usually goes first because it gets hot anytime the key is on. I’ve never had to buy the whole assembly, so I’m at a loss as to the cost.

will ask parts if those # will work on mine. Should being a 98. don’t mind spendin $200 but looking at twice that was balking . Thanks for info. They showed no stock on other number. Bob

Those are Norgren parts and a search for a Norgren Distrubutor in your area should get you a source.
Prevost is not consistent in pricing parts. Some are high priced compared to buying from the manufacturer or outside sources and some (like air bags and relays) they are untouchable their prices are so low.
Prevost parts is one source to check, but a Norgren distibutor is the second place to check. Some coaches have both 12 and 24 volt coils for the leveling system solenoids so it would help to take a meter to the coil wires to verify if they are all 24 volt or if the original converter modified the suspension controls (which is not uncommon).
The shop manual specific to your coach will show the function of each valve so if you can do without the leveling system feature for a while just replace the center coil and the ride height valves will be the ones brought into play.

did not know center one needed to be there but once you said it it made sense. lesson two on voltage will check-switches are also missing -another story but minor set back. Everything in front of differential is in tact so all valve-norgren-hose to bags still good so all they need is signal from front. Life is good. Can button that area (rear differential) /compartment up now and install engine and trans back in. I left it out for ease of access to all the air /brake lines valves etc. Thanks Bob

My son just came by and brought me a 8 station 24 volt control unit with same hose fittings. Now I have 3 extra stations for projects. He is a engineer and bus builder also. Life is good. He helps with the prevost but likes another brand(MCI) also has a Freightlinner Toter-Home.

I removed the OTR a/c system in my bus. I have 2 of the 24 volt solenoids from the 4th bay that are just sitting on the wall, not being used. I see you got some help from your son but if you need to two solenoids, just holler. Shipping from Springfield to Evanville shouldn’t be much and that would be all would I ask.

Sure Roger
I see you have a converted coach, I am converting mine from OTR coach. I could show you my project. Wife calls her “Olga”, says she is my “second wife” (Olga that is).
