  • 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I just took delivery of my new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit reserve with hemi. This is the new WL74 2 row Jeep. Wow what a car! Humongous improvement in every way over earlier Grand Cherokees. Perfect tow car for me. Now hopefully someone will create a base plate for it soon. If you are in the market highly recommend.

I hope the issues I have with my 2021 Grand Cherokee have been eliminated.

Because the GC with electronic power steering is prone to severe shimmy under certain circumstances I opted to have the kit specific to the 2021 GC and Durango installed. Untold, until you get the operating manual ( a single page ) is when operating the kit will drain the GC battery in 3 hours, So I installed the kit, but there is no way to do a pre-trip inspection to verify the kit is operating.

The second larger problem is when the GC is taken from towing mode and back to driving mode, with or without the towing kit operating, you have no power steering for about 45 minutes. Evidently on GCs with the transfer case in neutral for towing the system disables the power steering, and when returning the transfer case to driving it takes 45 minutes to have the GC system restore use of power steering.

I am working my way up the food chain at Jeep to get a resolution on these issues that have been known for several years. If you need more info go to IRV2 web site and search for “death wobble” and GC power steering issues.

Is that the one advertised as the Grand Cherokee L? It’s looks to be the size of a Suburban! Is it towable 4 down like the others?

Bill, you are referring to the 2021 Grand Cherokee Limited – New – 3 rows Jeep – close to a Suburban size…

Dave is referring to the new 2022 Grand Cherokee Summit – New – 2 rows Jeep.

Unlike the 2021/22 Jeep® Grand Cherokee that offers a third row, the 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee is only available with two rows. This new SUV has a shorter wheelbase, upgraded grille, and a more sporty design…

The Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid follows early in 2022. New Grand Cherokees—both two- and three-row—are being built at the new Mack Plant in the Detroit Assembly Complex

There are also (2) more larger new vehicles, Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer built at Warren Truck Assembly Plant.

    There’s also a Wagoneer that’s Suburban-sized.
